Rachel House is of Maori descent (Ngati Mutunga and Ngai Tahu). She studied at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School. Her breakthrough came through collaborations with Taika Waititi on Boy (2010), What We Do in the Shadows (2014), and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016). Her role as Gramma Tala in Moana (2016) was defining. Her delivery of 'There is nowhere you could go that I won't be with you' moved audiences worldwide. She also appeared in Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and voiced Terry in Pixar's Soul (2020).
